Project Description

Ultimate across Africa AirSperience

You’ve done Africa several times, and now are seeking for something totally unique, or you have that very special occasion to celebrate at Grande, then let us take you to the AirSperience of a life time. We were the first in 2001 to accomplish the first Cape to Cairo AirSperience in 21 days, and haven’t stop ever since. Nowadays political situations are limiting us from Cape Town to Ethiopia, sometimes to Kenya, but the aim is always the same: take Africa as a whole, and discover its kaleidoscope of experiences and faces in an extraordinary journey. Imagine soaring from Cape of Good Hope to the sands of the Namib Desert and the Skeleton Coast. Game viewing in the unique Okavango delta ecosystem. Feel the thundering power of the Victoria Falls. Discover walking and canoe safaris along the mighty Zambesi or the Luangwa Valley. Witness the largest wildlife migration in Africa in the Serengeti. Encounter the fascinating mountain gorillas. Unveil the powerful beauty of our earth’s genesis along the Great African Rift Valley while discovering the true life of local tribes. Remain in awe at the breath-taking sceneries of the Blue Nile highlands and be touched by the cultural heritage of Lalibela and Ethiopia in general. One revealing and life-changing journey only made possible by your bespoke AirSperience safari.

Others have followed our path, but if you don’t want to loose touch with the ground flying big fast jets, limiting your access to big runways, and if you want to rely on the only pilots-guides having dozens of across Africa AirSperiences under their wings, hence offering a competent and knowledgeable experience across all the visited countries, then we honestly think are the right match for you.

Recommended time invested: 18 to 22 days.

Investment range: 1800 to 4500 USD / person / night

The Ultimate across Africa AirSperience is a tribute to Africa as a whole, to its beauty and diverse faces. You will not discover the single countries, you will discover a continent, embracing all it has to offer in a once in a life time journey. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been to Africa already, what you will gain during this AirSperience is an extraordinary and personal encounter with the continent’s sheer kaleidoscopic beauty. This journey is evocative of a bygone era explorations when people would spend months if not years to move across Africa. Imagine connecting Cape of Good Hope with the mountain gorillas, witnessing the great migration in the Serengeti after having soared over the Namib desert, or enjoying incredible game viewing in the Okavango delta and few days later witnessing the genesis of our earth as you fly over the volcanos and lava flows along the Great African Rift Valley. Feel unique, feel privileged, enjoy your Ultimate across Africa AirSperience.

Let us try to answer some of the questions you might have before choosing Namibia as your next destination. If you are not satisfied or have further doubts, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Will I be safe
In the early 2000 we used to fly from Cape Town to Cairo. Having our passengers and crew’s safety as our priority, and being convinced that this journey must be an enjoyable experience and not a struggle, we had to restrict our routing further and further. Now we operate from South Africa all the way to Kenya or Ethiopia, depending on the political scene. So don’t worry, we will only operate this AirSperience only through areas we deem as safe. Safe in terms of social stability: we currently consider very safe to travel South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya, especially considering we won’t spend time in the main cities. Safe in terms of medical assistance: given the remoteness of most of the places we will explore, and the lack of an adequate health care system, personal medicines should be carried from home, and extra care be placed to avoid health issues and physical injuries. This said, having your personal aircraft is definitely an extra guarantees, and for serious conditions we will be able to arrange Med Evac to Johannesburg, Middle East or Europe. Just make sure your travel insurance does cover for that. Safe in terms of hygiene: yellow fever vaccination is compulsory. Not much because we will visit countries where the disease is highly endemic, but because each country prefers to avoid importing it from its neighbours. Malaria prevention tablets are also advisable for parts of the journey. Please refer to your national health authorities for updated requirements or recommendations. Food hygiene in our selected camps and lodges is good, but always ask your guide or camp/lodge management for advise. Drink only bottled or purified water. Safe in terms of quality of transportation: we operate this journey with our own Cessna Grand Caravan, a world renowned reliable machine which we maintain to the highest standards. We are proud to state that there are no other pilots in the industry having a thoroughly knowledge of all the countries we visit, having flown and guided such expedition since 2002 on a regular basis.

Where will I sleep
A general note: in Africa a tented camp is not synonymous of basic accommodation. Some tented camps are of a 5 star hotel’s suite level, with its own style and décor, they just happen to have canvas walls instead of brick and cement walls, usually on a raised wooden deck. Ask us about pictures and descriptions, we will gladly provide them, together with our first hand feedback. Such a unique experience can only be achieved through an intense personalization, to make sure your expectations will be met. Except for one or two places where the options are very limited in terms of choice of accommodation (yet remaining at a good level), in most of the areas visited we will be able to let you choose from a good tented camp offering tented bedrooms of approx 20-30 sqm, private bathroom with shower, above raised wooden platforms, to top luxury tented camps or lodges, boasting suite size rooms of 30-40+ sqm, with unique interior décor, air-conditioning, private outside decks with plunge pools, inside and outside showers, etc etc…

What will I eat
The camps and lodges we recommend offer in general an international cuisine, so expect fresh or cooked vegetables and good meats. They will cater for any food allergies or preferences, vegetarians, vegans, gluten free etc…, provided they are notified at the time of booking. Sometimes based on the requirements there might be not much variety to choose from.

Should I take my kids along
Due to their remote locations and wilderness environment, most camps and lodges will not accept kids under 6 or 12 unless the entire camp/lodge is taken on exclusive basis. Also the mountain gorilla trekking is only available for 15 years old and above. In a few occasions we might have to travel for quite some time between camps/lodges. This said, everything is possible, you know your kids, you will define the pace of your journey. This is the beauty of a bespoke AirSperience, every detail will be crafted around your needs.

Only with your personal aircraft and experienced pilot/guide, … unless you have months to spare for this expedition. With no scheduled services between all the countries visited, the only efficient way to achieve such extraordinary experience is with an aircraft seamlessly connecting the most striking and unique areas of this continent. And only with an aircraft able to deal with unpaved rugged airstrips you will be able to move from remote location to remote locations, never loosing contact with this incredible continent’s faces, enjoying hours and hours of incredible scenic flying.
